The new iMacs are here! They were launched today at the Apple Summer Mac Event. Engagdet provided live coverage, witch can be found here .

After having looked at all the pictures of the new iMacs, I must say, I’m impressed! The design didn’t appeal to me in the first place. After some more glances though, it looks astounding! The first thing that hit me when I saw it, was that black border. At once, I though: “That can’t be right! Black? On an iMac?” After some consideration though, my conclusion is that it doesn’t look all that bad after all.

The next thing that hit me was the black Apple logo. I was sure that would be white or glowing blue. As with the border, after a few looks at the logo, I found out it wasn’t exactly ugly.

I was very relieved to see they’ve kept the good old stand from the G3s. That was, and is, one of my favourite parts about the iMac.

The cheapest iMac now has a 20” screen. I’m glad they decided to remove the 17” one, it just took up space. :) The new hardware specs are quite amazing. If you take the most expensive model and stuff it with all the best options, you’ll have 2,8 Ghz DC2E, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, and of course, the wireless keyboard and mouse.
Now, dear readers, that’ll cost you the neat sum of $3,499.

Well, that’s the end of this post. As I’ve been writing, I’ve been looking at even more pictures, and the new iMac is growing on me. That’ll definately be my next computer. Also, you might’ve noticed I haven’t mentioned iWork and iLife in this post. Don’t worry, I haven’t overlooked them, I merely wanted to devote my attention to the iMac. :)

Ps.: I hereby take no responsibility for any extremities you might go to after reading this post and watching the pics over at Apple . XD
